This 44-year-old sci-fi saga returns to Netflix

This is one of Japan’s most popular sagas, 44 years old. Mobile Suit Gundam was created by director Yoshiyuki Tomino five years before Transformers – the two series have long been compared.

This science fiction franchise depicts a clash between a space colony demanding its independence and the federal government of Earth. Large metal armors with very powerful weapons are created to fight in this war.

Good news for fans, an animated series titled Mobile Suit Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance will be released on the Netflix platform. The story takes place on the European front during the One Year War – in other words, during World War III – a part of the story already explored in the original series in 1979.

Netflix has released a new teaser for this project, the release date of which is still unknown. Comprised of six 30-minute episodes, Mobile Suit Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance was created using the Unreal Engine 5 creation tool for its 3D animation.

In anticipation of the release of this new project, several films from the Mobile Suit Gundam saga are available on the platform: Hathaway’s Shard, Char Strikes Back, as well as the three-part Mobile Suit Gundam special edition.
