Spotify, like many companies, appears to have surrendered to artificial intelligence (AI) bots like ChatGPT. As reported by TechCrunch, Streaming is testing an AI-powered feature that creates playlists from text messages, meaning you tell the chatbot your type of music and it returns with a list of sounds based on the conversation you had.
Apparently, the tool is only available in English and to a select group. The company did not provide details on user selection criteria. “Turn your ideas into playlists using Al”, we read in the description of the feature in the application, which also suggests other suggestions.

However, it is safe to assume that if Spotify actually launches the new feature, it is possible that it will only be available to subscribers and with an increased subscription fee.
It is worth mentioning that this is not the first AI-based tool that music streaming is betting on. Earlier this year, Spotify launched DJ AI (powered by OpenAI), a personalized guide “who knows you and your musical tastes well enough to choose what to play for you”. The feature selects songs and includes commentary with an artificial voice, providing information about the artists and songs. The option is not yet available in Brazil.
In July this year Daniel Ek, CEO and co-founder of Spotify, also revealed plans to run ads with the user’s voice. “Obviously you have to approve the entry, but it opens up, from an advertising point of view, all these great possibilities”. The company has not released any updates on this feature.
