In theaters from Wednesday, December 13, 2023, The Three Musketeers promises a flurry of action and twists. The actors and actresses featured in the French blockbuster were involved in shaping this film, whether it was pre-production or the action scenes desired by its director, Martin Bourboulon.
One scene in particular challenged the actors, in this case Eva Green and Francois Civil. The scene… Fiery!
“Francis leaked it to the press…why did he do it?”, jokes Eva Green to our microphone (see our video interview above, or the longer version in the audio podcast). “In the second part, we were rehearsing a fight and I was in a bit of a fever! I found him running with my sword and he was very, very close. I was very scared, but he remained obscene.
Fortunately, there were no injuries. When we actually did the scene, there was fire all around and so on. That’s why we have to concentrate 300%. We weren’t paired up, it was actually in sequence.”
and added: “There’s a lot of prep work that goes into a fight like this. I didn’t want to disappoint the stuntmen who gave so much time and were so encouraging. I’m a bit clumsy and they really helped me get some physical but also mental strength for the character. So I wanted to make them proud. And then, like athletes in the morning, we had to sleep well and be very focused. When we finally manage to achieve a good result, we are still quite happy!“
