Energy producer Auren and telecommunications company Vivo have reached an agreement to create a joint venture focused on the commercialization of electricity for the free market, with the aim of liberalization for small consumers in the coming years.
The deal will bring together Auren’s expertise in the electricity sector and Vivo’s ability to scale distribution and offer digital services, the companies highlighted in a statement released Monday evening.
The joint venture, in which each company will hold a 50% stake, plans to operate in the so-called “retail” market of the electricity sector, which includes small and medium-sized businesses with an energy requirement of less than 500 kW.
Consumers of this size connected to high voltage will be able to migrate to the free market as early as 2024, guaranteeing savings of up to 35% compared to what they pay for energy in the captive market, served by distributors.
“The potential market for the operation is estimated at approximately 72 thousand companies, including factories, offices and commercial establishments”, explained the companies, adding that they will prepare to operate in the low voltage and residential segments when there is total liberalization of the market. . .
The completion of the transaction is subject to obtaining antitrust authorizations.
