Percy Jackson: This character was removed from the series for budget reasons

Percy Jackson returns to the screens! The hero of Rick Riordan’s books, already made into movies in 2010 and 2013, is now the subject of a series on Disney+. Titled Percy Jackson and the Olympians, it is also taken from the first volume and stars actor Walker Scobell.

Although the program launched on the platform on December 20, information shared by the creator indicates that one of the characters that fans love so much will not appear in the series due to budgetary reasons.

This is Argos, a half-blood colony security guard present in most of the saga’s volumes. This character, which exists in Greek mythology, has special eyes that cover the entire body. He can see everything, all the time.

Although the series is more faithful to the books than the films, Argos will not be in the program because the special effects required were too expensive. It must be said that the project is already full of many creatures.

However, the character appeared in early scripts, as Mythomagic Inc, producer Rick Riordan explains:

We worked hard to get Argos into the show (it was a storyline at the beginning of the second episode), but when we realized that the entire visual effects budget would be spent on the eye design, we changed our minds.s, explains the company in a post published on Threads (Instagram).

Percy Jackson fans: imagine this with Percy and Grover trying to bring good humor.”

Percy Jackson and the Olympians is available this Wednesday, December 20th on Disney+.
