It is currently in the top 5 most watched movies on the platform: Like Netflix subscribers, discover or rediscover Ben Affleck’s first feature film with his brother Casey Affleck, as well as Michelle Monaghan, Morgan Freeman, Ed Harris and Amy Ryan.
This is the thriller Gone Baby Gone, which was released in 2007. The action takes place in the city of Boston, which is marked by the disappearance of a little girl. The child’s uncle and aunt decide to call in private detectives (played by Affleck and Monaghan). Throughout the investigation, the duo explores the hidden underbelly of the city, where drug dealers, criminals and pedophiles rule. And when the truth comes out, it’s expensive, very expensive.

If subscribers are fans of the film, they were able to highlight many of Gone Baby Gone’s strengths. The first of these is Amy Ryan’s incredible performance as the drug-addicted mother of the deceased and with a bigger Boston accent (if you watch it in the original version). We can also cite its dark, almost dirty atmosphere, which makes the city as alive and disturbing as it is. And, of course, a very well-crafted script creates a truly breathtaking suspense!

Ben Affleck co-wrote the screenplay with Aaron Stockard, who he will work with on Argo and who was already Will Hunting’s assistant producer. Both Boston connoisseurs, they will bring to the screen Dennis Lehane’s novel, which was already set in Boston and which is Affleck’s favorite book.
