Steel Frame technology allows homes to be built at record speed

Barbieri, an industry that produces galvanized steel profiles for plasterboard and light metal carpentry, is directly connected to the project, offering the materials for the structure.

Technology combined with new procedures and construction methods is giving more and more impetus to civil construction. A practical example of this was the eight-month project with the construction of two two-storey houses in a record time of eight months. Using the Steel Frame system, Barbieri, an industry that produces galvanized steel profiles for plasterboard and light steel carpentry, is directly connected to the project, offering the materials for the structure. The project, carried out in Buenos Aires, Argentina, was developed through the integrated work of Barbieri do Brasil with the engineering company Consul Steel and the construction company Abedull Group.

The works include the insulation of the structure, followed by the consolidation, systems and external and internal finishes. The Steel Frame uses lightweight structural steel profiles, along with other insulation, dividing, fastening and termination components. “With the ability to adapt to different environments, technology offers an effective solution, since it allows you to build without damaging the territory, which is very important considering the environmental impact”, comments André Luiz Rossi, director of development and new business of Barbieri from Brazil .

The villas are single-family (separate houses), each measuring 200 m² on 800 m² lots. One of these has a 32.5 kg/m² steel structure, which will result in three bedrooms, a suite, a spacious kitchen integrated into the living room and a space that could be an office or a games room. The second house is characterized by a large semi-public area on the ground floor and rooms on the upper floor, with a metal structure weighing 48 kg/m². “They are not simple constructions, but an innovation,” concludes Rossi.
