The death toll from the earthquake in China rises to 135


Last Monday, a 5.9 magnitude earthquake struck the provinces of Gansu and Qinghai. Around 1000 people were injured




The death toll in China has reached 135 after the earthquake that hit the province of Qinghai, in the north-west of the country, according to information released by the France Presse news agency this Thursday 21st.

Rescue teams continue search operations for victims in the province. About a thousand people were injured in the region and in neighboring Gansu after the earthquake that hit the area on Monday 18th.

At Jishishan County Hospital in Gansu, near the earthquake’s epicenter, doctors were treating the injured.

“I want to go home. But my house has been destroyed, I don’t know where to go,” said a patient awaiting leg surgery.

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported that the earthquake, measuring 6.1 magnitude, was recorded on Monday 100 km from Lanzhou, the capital of Gansu.
