Bradley Cooper was “scaredAbout the idea of playing Leonard Bernstein in the Netflix movie Maestro. It was he who made this admission during a special question-and-answer session organized at the Whitby Hotel in New York and moderated by Lin-Manuel Miranda, reports. IndieWire.

“I was very worried about this scene because we were performing it live– says Bradley Cooper.It was the London Symphony Orchestra. They recorded me live, I had to direct them. And I spent six years learning how to record six minutes and 21 seconds of music“.
To achieve this success, Bradley Cooper turned to professionals, whom he did not forget to thank. his “excellent teachershelped him reproduce Bernstein’s direction almost identically.
“I was able to get the raw footage of watching Leonard Bernstein conduct at Elys Cathedral with the London Symphony Orchestra in 1976. So I was able to study it.“, he explains to the audience. “Yannick Nézet-Séguin I made videos with all the tempo changes and so I had all the gear to work with.“
and added: “It was really about defining exactly what I wanted cinematically, and then inviting them to inhabit that space and trusting the work they did. Because I think I knew, I was afraid, I was absolutely afraid that if I didn’t do the work, I wouldn’t be able to have fun in these scenes. And everyone succeeded.“
To recall, Maestro tells the great and beautiful story between Leonard Bernstein and Felicia Montealegre Con Bernstein (Carey Mulligan) in the form of a love letter to life and art.
