Rafael and Nicholas have been around each other for almost four seasons now. While fans of Astrid and Raphael (who should own the rights to the American remake) were disappointed to see the couple form one day, the two co-stars shared a passionate kiss in the Season 3 finale.
Unfortunately, when Season 4 premiered on November 10, viewers only got to see that the two friends weren’t on the same wavelength.
A lot of misunderstandings actually changed the cards and allowed Nora (Sofia Yamna), their new colleague, to intervene in their sentimental imbroglio. But the Season 4 finale, which airs this Friday, December 22, could change everything for Rafael and Nicolas (Benoit Michel).
Rafael and Nicola finally a couple?
During a press conference to promote Astrid and Raphael season 4, Lola Dewere, Raphael’s translator, and Alexandre de Seguin, screenwriter of the detective series, returned to the romantic relationship between the two colleagues.
“It is difficult because Raphael is a difficult person. She is ultimately more complicated than Astrid“- explained the actor. “She barely has room for her son, so how can she have room for Nicholas? They are never ready at once.“
“When one is ready to start a relationship, the other is not and vice versa. For my part, I told Alexander that I don’t like stories that happened too fast and where there was no challenge. I don’t find it interesting. But in Season 4, things happen. It remains to be seen whether it will last until the end.“
For the screenwriter, the two characters have everything to end up together. Unfortunately, times between Nicolas and Rafael are never good. “This is a story that should be obvious“, he added.
“What’s troubling about Nicola’s character is that he’s supposed to be the first youngster in the series, the first to show off his gun, but he’s an intellectual who’s more into culture than action..”
“This complicates things with Raphael, who is the complete opposite. He tends to act before thinking, and he thinks before acting. So obviously this creates a synchronization problem between the two. “
“He says himself: he will never fall in love with the right one. And Nicholas is right, so he’s clearly missing out.” Now it remains to be seen if the season 4 finale, in which Raphael finds himself in a difficult situation, will change the relationship between the two friends in the right direction…
