The PL deputy criticizes Galinha Pintadinha and Netflix: “PSOL activist factory”

Federal MP Júlia Zanatta (PL-SC) said, in a video posted on social media, that the children’s cartoon Galinha Pintadinha has an “ideological character” and also criticized the Netflix animation Guardians of the Mansion of Terror (2022).

The federal deputy Giulia Zanatta (PL-SC) stated, in a video published on social media, that the children’s cartoon Galinha Pintadinha will have an “ideological character” and will function as a “factory for PSOL activists”. In the video, released on her Instagram profile, the parliamentarian shows what she considers signs that the content of the series is “left-wing”.

The deputy also shows the recent publications of the official profile Galinha Pintadinha to try to support her criticisms. In one of them, the character participates in an Instagram trend called “songs that aren’t by the same singer.” The video compares the children’s song “Borboletinha” to a melody similar to the communist anthem, in a joking tone.

In one of the questions, in front of the exhibitions, the parliamentarian asks the fans. “Would you let your child watch a cartoon that advocates gender transition, criticizes capitalism, and even praises the Soviet Union?”

Júlia also stated that cultural productions for children would be part of a “plan to attack the family and weaken the values of society.”

In the same video Zanatta also criticizes the Netflix animation Guardians of Terror (2022). “Netflix did this too. They created a cartoon teaching children to question their gender, whether they’re male or female, the two genders that exist,” he said. The video then shows an excerpt from the production in which a character identifies as a trans person.

“Young children are exposed to messages disguised as entertainment and almost no one notices it. Parents beware! Education belongs to the family, not to those who use cartoons to advertise themselves,” the MP wrote in the caption of the publication. The video has more than 300 thousand views.

After the impact, the parliamentarian released a new drawing, which she called “Galinha Armadinha”, in which the character “shoots” figures such as the “owl of censorship”, “Lula cachaceira, who sank the nation” and the “peacock of the media, who distorted information”.

“Armed Chicken po po po, no one will order it for him in the chicken coop,” says an excerpt of the song.

In the caption, Júlia Zanatta commented on the discomfort generated by the first video. “It’s funny: it’s my video that bothers you, not the brand’s Instagram content, which it set out to seal. The brand’s social media has already said the character has always been ‘woke’.”

“It is worth emphasizing that I do not speak as a congresswoman, using the power of the state to attack Galinha Pintadinha. I speak as a mother who, together with my husband @guilhermecolombosc, share a concern as parents. I know that many other parents also do not want this type of content to be transmitted to their children,” she continued.

“Those who scoff at this type of concern ignore the impact of the linguistic and symbolic patterns transmitted through what we consume and how this contributes to the formation of the imagination, which is the starting point for understanding reality and building knowledge”, concluded the deputy.
