BRASILIA – Federal government appointed Neri Geller hold the position of Secretary of Agricultural Policies of Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock. Geller was already a minister in the government of Dilma Rousseff (PT), federal deputy for Mato Grosso and previously held the same secretariat that he holds today. In August last year, the Electoral Tribunal revoked Geller’s mandate in the Chamber of Deputies for alleged abuse of economic power, which prevented him from running for the Senate and prevented him from taking over the direction of the Secretariat for Agricultural Policy, which had remained without a member since the beginning of the government, waiting for the appeals to be judged. The former parliamentarian was one of Lula’s bridges with agribusiness during the election campaign, together with Carlos Fávaro, his ally who became Minister of Agriculture.
