The two adaptations of Percy Jackson, released in 2010 and 2013, featured at least one talented actor, Logan Lerman. For the rest, fans of Rick Riordan’s literary saga were far from thrilled.
Many criticized the films for being sloppy and not doing justice to the original novels. After ten years, the demigod hero returns to the series.
Who says the series says there’s more time to adapt the best of the first volume, which is carried over here in the first season. The main difference of this new project is the participation of the author Rick Riordan, who did not agree with the films released in cinemas.
The writer publicly expressed his anger by replying to a fan on X (Twitter): “I haven’t seen the movies yet and I don’t plan to. I know what I’m talking about, I had read the scripts because the story is very important to me. I have absolutely nothing against very talented actors. It’s not their fault. I am also sorry that he was dragged into this mess.”
This time, the author returns his creation. He produced the series and wrote the script for the first two episodes, but he was involved in the entire project, he explains. The Hollywood Reporter :”I worked with the writers, read all drafts of the script, made corrections. I was involved in every episode.”
Apparently, this difference is felt both by critics – who appreciated the quality of the series – and by a very active fan community on social networks:

I just finished watching the first two episodes of Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Light Thief. I love the direction they are taking. After two god-awful movies, we finally have a faithful adaptation. I’m happy with what I’m seeing so far and can’t wait for more. https://t.co/diC1JumPv4 pic.twitter.com/mxwYpknYjS

I think I’m doing an amazing job now of not being mad at Percy Jackson, even though my childhood is being brought to life in a faithful well-crafted adaptation, literally for the first time.

“I think I’ll hold back enough of my joy for Percy Jackson, even though my entire childhood is being brought to life for the first time in a faithful and very well-written adaptation..”
I really enjoyed the first two episodes of PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS. Extremely faithful to the book of The Lightning Thief so far, it captures the characters, intriguing world dynamics and Percy’s dry sense of humor well. I look forward to the rest. #Percy Jackson and the Olympians pic.twitter.com/br3RiTfYhe
