On holiday in Brazil for the end-of-year holidays, Claudinho denied the interest of Brazilian clubs in counting on their football for 2024. Claudinho attracted interest from Flamengo, Internacional and Palmeiras during the 2023 season. But the Russians wanted at least 25 million euros (R$133 million at current prices) to do business.
This Saturday, when asked before the charity match, played at the Bruno José Daniel Stadium, in Santo André (SP), about a possible return, Claudinho said he had received “nothing concrete”.
“I actually don’t know where this situation is. Nothing concrete has come to me, so I haven’t even spoken to Zenit. Nothing concrete has come to me,” said the midfielder,
“But if it happens, I am a professional athlete and I have always respected my work. If I have to sit down and talk, they (the Russians) will listen to me. I want the best for myself and for other clubs. So, whatever happens, It will happen and it will be good for both parties. Now I’m just enjoying the holidays,” he added.
In July, the 26-year-old player’s agent said that the St. Petersburg club had no intention of releasing the Brazilian. In the same month, Zenit rejected a €15 million proposal from Flamengo (R$80 million at current prices) and asked for €25 million (R$130 million).
Red Bull Bragantino sold Claudinho for 15 million euros in August 2021, but retained 20% of the athlete’s rights. The Brazilian’s contract with the Eastern European club expires in June 2027.
In the current European season, the midfielder has played 25 games, including league, cup and super cup, with four goals scored and four assists. Despite being a starter for Zenit, the Brazilian came on in the second half of the Russians’ last match, played on the 9th, exactly two weeks ago.
