Discover the top 5 best new Prime Video series of 2023 according to AlloCiné viewers!
5th – Wild Flowers 4.1/5
Lovers of melodrama, dysfunctional family stories and lovers of the outdoors, this Australian mini-series is for you.
Adapted from Holly Ringland’s book of the same name, Wildflowers follows Alice Hart, a child from an abusive home who, orphaned after a tragic and mysterious fire, moves in with her grandmother June (Sigourney Weaver), whom she has never met before. She then moved to Thornfield, the latter’s flower farm, which is also a home for women who have been violently abused by their husbands. There he learns that his family is hiding many secrets…
It’s hard not to get carried away by this story, which is led by a top-notch cast: little Alila Brown (Alice) shines with spontaneity, vulnerability, enthusiasm and naivety, and Alicia Debnam-Carey (100, Fear The Walking Dead) gives a perfect performance. An adult version of him who has retained his wild nature. And then there is Sigourney Weaver – also an executive producer of the series – as glorious as ever. Photography also plays a big part in this gem of a series, paying homage to Australia and serving the story with precision and emotion.
4th – Daisy Jones and Six 4.1/5
Loosely inspired by the story of the band Fleetwood Mac and adapted from the bestseller of the same name, Daisy Jones and The Six is one of the 2023 event series approved by Stevie Nicks to boot.
Like the previous novel, the show follows the rise and fall of a major fictional rock band in the seventies through fake interviews with various members, fake archival footage and the recording of an actual album – which also reached number one on iTunes. Rating – to better understand reality and fiction. Produced by, among others, Reese Witherspoon, this spoof biopic that’s really rock ‘n’ roll may be made from scratch, despite its quasi-documentary form, but it’s none the less exciting, inspiring, and very busy.
3rd – Alphonse 4.2/5
Alphonse is the first series of Nicolas Bedos, a six-episode comedy based on an idea he had with Jean Dujardin, who brilliantly plays the title role.
The story follows Alphonse, a forty-year-old teenager in the midst of his professional and family failures, who discovers an amazing profession – while reconnecting with the father he barely knows. His trajectory then crosses a galaxy of women, each more exciting and eccentric than the last, dragging him into the heart of a story that is at once dangerous, transgressive and full of tenderness.
With Charlotte Gainsbourg, Nicole Garcia and Pierre Ardit also in the cast, Alphonse is an addictive series that explodes taboos and is cynical, cheeky and provocative Nicholas Bedos You. But the show is also funny, deep, sensitive and disturbing. Worth the detour, absolutely.
2nd – The Last of Us 4.3/5
Whether you’re a video game fan or not, you couldn’t miss The Last of Us in 2023. This HBO adaptation of the year’s true event series has enjoyed tremendous public and critical success, as evidenced by its 24 nominations. 2023 Emmy Awards: Record for Video Game Adaptation!
The last among them Set twenty years after the destruction of modern civilization, it follows Joel, a seasoned survivor hired to smuggle 14-year-old Ellie out of a quarantine zone. What begins as a small mission quickly turns into a brutal and terrifying journey across the United States that will test their humanity and will to survive.
This is a series that everyone agrees on. Powered by a powerful, poignant, haunting and captivating duo – played with perfect alchemy by two Game of Thrones veterans, the masterful Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey – we quickly succumbed to this “zombie story” that’s so much better than that. In addition to enjoying a quality story and excellent production, the waiting series is also notable for its attention to character development, even the secondary ones. Here we focus more on the psychological aspect of the apocalypse than on its gruesome side (which is nevertheless there and almost even more gruesome): it is terrifyingly sublime, of astonishing visual and emotional beauty. Just a small screen monument.
1st – Black Hearts 4.4/5
Cœurs Noirs created a surprise this year. A new original creation from Prime Video, led by Nicolas Duvauchel, Tewfik Jalabi and Marie Dompnier, has even been dethroned. The last among them By placing it at the top of the most watched programs on the platform.
A spectacular and breathtaking dive into the daily life of a French special forces commando in Iraq – the first of its kind – the series takes place on the eve of the battle for Mosul in October 2016. The members of this commando have a mission. Find and take out the daughter and granddaughter of an important French emir of Daesh, whom they have captured and who will only cooperate with them on this condition.
In the show, tension and explosions worthy of a blockbuster: the series is picturesque, realistic and documented, but also pure entertainment that questions the notion of heroism. Between moments of ordinary life and spectacular action scenes, it is both intimate and powerful, and its themes are enhanced by the performances of its actors, many of whom trained with special forces before filming, and who truly embody the soldiers. Immersed in horror. spread the word black hearts There is nothing to envy about the American production and it is a must see.
The rating consists of series released on Amazon Prime Video in 2023 and counts a minimum rating of 250. Feel free to post your notes and reviews of files in this series (and others) and post your own in the top comments below!
