Should not culture benefit from a sovereign ministry?

When the Ministry of Culture was established in 1958, its first owner, Andre Malraux, held the title of “Minister of State”. This never happened again for seven years and five years in a row. And Valerie Giscard d’Estaing’s seven-year term was even reduced to the rank of Secretary of State. Even if the term “ordinary” seems too much for you – stay away from me to make cultural property or artistic creation a “state monopoly”! – It is clear that the Ministry of Culture should seek the rank, role and attributes that are more in line with its mission. As stated in paragraph 111 of my program: The Ministry of Culture, Popular Education and the Ministry of Media will be established. He will be endowed with the most extensive competence, up to France’s external cultural action and his role within the Francophonie. Shared competence is restored between the state and local government (…).

Is cinema necessarily a political art? What inspires your recovery that can be done around a job like the recent “Bac Nord”?

From birth, cinema is a popular art. As such, today, as well as yesterday, it deals with all social issues, including their “political” question. Ფ is active. On the other hand, I do not have the habit of evaluating the work depending on whether the “political” statement goes in the direction of my obligations. The film you mentioned, in my opinion, poses a completely different problem: it is a symptom. A symptom of the “banality of evil” that is carried out by certain districts of our cities and which some parties see as a solution only in the strengthening of “all kinds of repression”. It should also be noted that the directors of this film reacted sharply to the attempts at political restoration of which he was the object.

Do movies and TV series, among other things, have a call, in your opinion, to help “cross the lines” in social issues (parity, diversity, etc.)?

Yes! And they do. Let’s trust the creative freedom of authors to make them always do more and even better!

Candidate … and spectator

If we have to name a movie or TV series for this campaign …
Invictus. Because a united nation wins against all odds.

If the title of a movie or TV series should be given to your program…
Life is beautiful, Roberto Benin. Even at the worst of times.

A copy of a movie or series that inspires …
I immediately think of the audience, I mean two: “You have to retire a young (…) first of all, you have to get it alive, it’s not in everyone’s capacity.”. (Barbuses). And how not to remember “Do not touch Grisby” Tontons rifles. Audience has a sense of formula that I greatly admire.

Movie / Series Character to Inspire…
Robin de Boy, for a strong sense of social justice.

For which the President·E would you vote for the screen?
Do not hesitate: Mandela rolled over Invictus. I got involved in politics against apartheid, I am immensely impressed by the strength of Mandela, the one who suffered physical injustice and who knew how to maintain hope and conviction that he could turn it all around. And to do this not with the anger and hatred of others, but with the unity and reconciliation of the people: “I am the master of my destiny”.
My slogan is “Happy Days”: we are the masters of our destiny.

The best political film?
A dictator, a masterpiece who has not lost his sharpness after eighty years when it comes to the dangers of the rise of nationalism in Europe.

The best political TV series?
Baron Noir, for his crude realism.

Remembering your first viewer?
Laurel and Hardy. What a duet!

Your cult movie?
Tonton rifles

Your cult TV series?
Money theft

Your latest movie / TV series?
Lupine Series

Working or thinking about music for a movie / series?
Quentin Tarantino’s Jackie Brown soundtrack
