Tonight on TV: Before Welcome to the Ch’tis, Danny Boone has signed on for this unstoppable comedy

When we talk about Danny Boone in cinema, Bienvenue chez les Ch’tis is obviously the first thing that comes to mind, his huge hit at the French box office with over 20 million viewers. But in 2006, two years before Chetis, we may have forgotten that a Frenchman wrote a very good comedy called La Maison du Bonheur. Full of twists and turns, it’s worth a quick (re)discovery!

The plot of the House of Happiness, an adaptation of the play The life of the construction object Written and directed by Danny Boone? It is a miserly husband who decides to finally be generous to his wife and offer her a country house. But he can’t save money, so he chooses to trust a shady real estate agent and lame workers who turn his surprise into a nightmare.

Thus, Home of Happiness marks Danny Boone’s first experience behind the camera. How does he define the role of director? “It means suffering a hundred annoyances every day compared to what we imagined when we wrote”he declares. “And all of these little decisions that we make throughout the day ultimately set the color and tone of the film. Psychologically, it’s devastating. You have to be strong.”

For La Maison du Bonheur, which also stars Michel Laroque and Daniel Prévost, Danny Boon played all the roles. “Even for a character who retires and has a heart attack”The actor-filmmaker laughs. “I had a DVD of actors grabbing their left arm and falling!”

Happy House attracted more than a million viewers in cinemas. Will you find it in your living room?

tonight on TFX at 9:05 p.m.
