Ben Stiller Meets With Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky: “You Are My Hero”

Ben Stiller met with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in Kyiv on Monday.

The Hollywood actor and director visited Ukraine as a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador and met after visiting occupied settlements in Kiev’s Zelensk region, according to a press release posted on the Ukrainian leader’s official website.

In the video, which appeared on Twitter, Stiller and Zelensky greeted each other warmly as they sat down and discussed the plight of refugees in a war-torn country that had been persecuted by Russia and its military. “It’s my hero!” beam Zolander The star said at a time when her visit marked World Refugee Day.

Stiller was joined by UNHCR Ukraine Representative Carolina Lindholm Billing, who accompanied the Hollywood actress on a walk through the dilapidated suburbs of Irpin, where they spoke with survivors of the occupation.

“It’s one thing to see this destruction on television or social media. Another thing is to see everything with your own eyes. “It’s much more shocking,” Stiller told Zelensky. “What you saw in Irpin is really horrible. “But it’s even worse to imagine what is happening in the settlements that are still temporarily occupied in the east,” Zelensky said in response.

Zelensky and Stiller discussed support for the internally displaced in Ukraine as well as Poland, which Stiller visited on Sunday. Zelensky also emphasized the violation of the rights of Ukrainians internally deported to Russia, including children.

In late February, Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a military invasion of Ukraine, which has since escalated into a far-reaching global crisis and generated strong support for the Ukrainian people from the media and entertainment industries.

Stiller was also featured in a separate video address that was shared on UNHCR’s Instagram page. Hi, I’m Ben Stiller and I’m here in Ukraine. War and violence are destroying people all over the world. Nobody chooses to run away from home. The security search was successful. “And it must be protected for all people,” he said.
