Released in theaters in 1990, My Father’s Glory is a little nostalgic gem whose visuals and atmosphere won’t leave you indifferent. It’s really impossible not to be overwhelmed by emotions in front of a classic with an unforgettable score by Vladimir Kosma…
Adapted from Marcel Pagnoli’s childhood memories, which he wrote over three years in three works, the feature film tells the story of young Marcel, who travels with his family to Provence for a summer vacation.

A city kid, he discovered nature and the outdoors with his father, a great hunter of whom he is very proud. A vacation that will forever mar his childhood memories.
Everyone will surely find a piece of it in the timeless La Gloire de mon père worn by Philippe Cauber and Nathalie Roussel. Yves Robert’s film, about the discovery of life through the eyes and heart of a little boy, gathered more than six million viewers in French cinemas, the second biggest success of 1990 after The Lost Poets’ Circle.
Note that The Glory of My Father was getting a sequel that same year. Released in theaters just two months later, Mother’s Castle was also a huge public success with 4.3 million admissions.
If the film is so impressive, it’s thanks to the precise performance of the stunning Julien Siamaca, who plays little Marcel on screen. Born on May 4, 1978, he was eleven years old at the time of the filming of the film and its sequel, which is his only experience as an actor.
Tonight on France 3 at 21:10.
