Years later, Disney+ shows filled the void, with Wandavision and The Mandalorian winning in 2020 and 2021, respectively. However, that takeover didn’t last as the Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon took the title last year.
What stands out most about this list is that content from streaming platforms dominates the top. The current streaming landscape is highly fragmented, with many seemingly preferring piracy to paying for multiple subscriptions.
Interestingly, Netflix series are noticeably absent. Without speculating too much, it’s likely that Netflix users are unlikely to drop their subscriptions, given that it’s the dominant streaming platform in most parts of the world.
Finally, it’s worth noting that the graph is based on BitTorrent traffic, which represents only a small portion of the piracy landscape. Most people these days use streaming sites that usually don’t provide statistics.
