The Trento deputy opens a new complaint against Ferragni

Cases of commercial fraud have already been investigated in 4 Italian regions

The Public Prosecutor’s Office of Trento, in northern Italy, has opened proceedings in the case involving Italian influencer Chiara Ferragni and the Pandoro-producing company Balocco for unfair commercial practices in the promotion of a charity campaign.

The case, according to the newspaper l’Adige, was registered after the complaint that the consumer association Codacons presented to the judicial authorities of several Italian cities, but without any hypothesis of crime or agents under investigation.

In total, four public prosecutor’s offices in different regions of the country are investigating the case.

Same process also in Cuneo and Prato, while in Milan the case could lead to an investigation for commercial fraud.

Ferragni, one of Italy’s most famous personalities, was fined just over 1 million euros for unfair commercial practice in promoting a pandoro for charitable purposes.

The sanction was applied by the Communications and Market Protection Authority, an Italian antitrust body, against two Ferragni companies. Balocco, producer of the Christmas cake, was fined 420 thousand euros.

The punishment refers to a complaint filed by Codacons against the campaign for a Pandoro line called “Pandoro Pink Christmas” and associated with the influencer at the end of 2022.

The advertising message suggested that the funds raised from the sale of the Christmas cake would be donated to the Regina Margherita Hospital in Turin.

However, the Antitrust ascertained that, in reality, only a donation of 50 thousand euros had been made by Balocco months before the campaign. .
