The twentieth season of ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy has a trailer that, for many, has an extra dose of emotion. This is because, in the first seconds, the actress Ellen Pompeo appears.
Since 2005, the actress (who is also a director and producer) has given life to Meredith Grey, the most famous doctor at the legendary Grace Mercy West Hospital in Seattle. However, in the nineteenth season, she decided to retire from the series (as a character, remaining in the production). More precisely in the seventh episode “I follow the sun”.
Moderate doses of Meredith Grey
Perhaps fans of the actress will have to contain their tempers a little. Pompeo has said that she will only make a few appearances in the next season of Grey’s Anatomy – and, certainly, the first episode should include some of those appearances. Look:
The star reiterated that his on-screen participation in the series will depend on “being able to find some time.” At the time of departure Pompeo had already said that it was not a complete farewell.
An extended series
There have been more than 400 episodes with the actress on stage. When her character left the series, significant changes occurred, with Meredith Gray choosing to move to Boston to provide her prodigy daughter Zola (Aniela Gumbs) with a specialized education. The doctor’s voice, however, remained in the narrative, as always for more than 17 years.
Chandra Wilson, in the role of Miranda Bailey, and James Pickens Jr., in the role of Richard Webber, have been present on Grey’s Anatomy since the first season. In fact, the series is also known for its long seasons, most of which have more than 20 episodes.
The Grey’s Anatomy season 20 premiere will take place on March 14. It was cut to just 10 episodes due to the Hollywood strike. According to ABC, the production averaged 10.7 million viewers per episode across all platforms – a success considering the series’ length.
