In Rebel Moon, available on Netflix for a few days, a peaceful colony is visited by Admiral Noble and his army to harvest them. But when the situation takes a dramatic turn, a certain Cora, played by Sofia Boutella, decides to take up arms and assemble a team of rebels to save her village.
Throughout the film, they will encounter a villain played by Ed Skrein, who will also return in the second installment, much to our delight. And when it comes to giving it his all for the role, the actor, who we saw most notably in The Transporter, played the game.
In an interview with our colleagues Movie pilotOne of Rebel Moon’s screenwriters revealed that Ed Skrein tried method acting, an acting technique in which an actor draws on his own personal experiences to establish his character, even if that means staying in the role off set.
“He was such a character. When he took off his suit and stood in line for lunch, it was difficult to talk to him. I heard him say in an interview, “It took me a year to get my figure back.” In addition, he is a very handsome, relaxed and funny guy who happily hugs you. But you don’t want Ed hugging you when he’s in noble mode.’
Like almost all Rebel Moon actors, Ed Skrein followed a strict and intense workout for almost 3 months to perfect his figure. It’s enough to make it more terrifying, in many ways. It must be said that Noble’s character is scarier than the real antagonist of the franchise, Regent Balisarius, who we see at the end of the film.
Ed Skrein is not the first actor to try this method, even if he didn’t go to extremes. The most famous case is that of Heath Ledger when he played the Joker. A role that would haunt him until his death.
