Joe Gow runs an adult content channel with his wife, a former college professor, and says her firing violates his constitutional rights

The president of an American university has been fired after his adult content channel came to light. Joe Gow had led the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse since 2007 and was informed of his dismissal in a letter. In an interview he states that the case violates his constitutional rights, but that he must continue teaching as a full professor at the institute.

Joe and his wife Carmen Wilson, a former professor at the same university, have produced videos for adult content platforms and have published two books about relationships and their experience in the world of the porn industry. He explains to NBC that the productions were made as a private citizen and that at no time was the university mentioned on his channels.

The books themselves were signed with pseudonyms, but the couple didn’t even bother to hide their identities on social media. On the channels where they produce content, Joe and Carmen use their real photos. They also produce interview videos with adult film actors and producers.

According to the former rector, the dismissal, which took effect immediately by decision of the university’s administrative council, violates his right to free expression provided by the First Amendment of the American Constitution.

University President Jay Rothman released a statement on behalf of the institution calling the former provost’s actions “abhorrent.” According to Rothman, Joe Gow had caused damage to the university’s reputation. The president also reportedly called for a review of Gow’s status as a tenured faculty member.

This isn’t the first time Joe Gow has caused controversy at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. In 2016, he invited porn actress Nina Hartley to speak at a “Free Speech Week” event. At the time you declared that the invitation was consistent with the proposal of the event.
