“Boher shares an apartment with his in-laws”… Stephan Hannon tells us more about his character Plus belle la vie, encore plus belle

Plus belle la vie’s big comeback is fast approaching. This Monday, January 8 at 1:40pm, TF1 will broadcast the first episode of this sequel, which will pick up 1 year after the events of the finale.

Stephane Hannon’s opportunity to once again don the costume of Jean-Paul Boehre, the big-hearted cop he played for more than 15 years.

During the promotion of Plus belle la vie, encore plus belle, AlloCiné was able to speak with the actress to tell us about the future of her character. And between sharing an apartment with his relatives and the arrival of a new commissar, Boher is not done with his problems.

AlloCiné: Where is the character when Plus belle la vie, encore plus belle resumes?

Stephen Hannon : When Plus belle la vie ended, Bohr was in a relationship with Léa Nebus and had two children. In the sequel, she is still in a relationship with him and is roommates with her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Babette and Patrick. We share a big flat together. This will lead to some pretty funny situations. This is very good.

The new commissioner he plays Moon daily, will arrive at the police station. How will the relationship with Boher go?

My character is very famous for his taste for authority (laughs) so obviously it will be quite difficult for him because he is very authoritarian. But at the same time it is quite pleasant.

Not much is happening at the moment, but we have a feeling he wants to modernize the police department. Moreover, you will find that the new decor is very modern. Except that Bohr is of an older generation, so everything modern is much more difficult for him. He’s not very good at doing things on digital boards, for example.

And Patrick Nebutt isn’t helping him either. These are situations that allow for comedy. Sure, Booher is still going to do the investigation, but there’s going to be a lot more comedy, and I love that.

Patrick Nebue and Jean-Paul Boher were very close in the final arches of Plus belle la vie. Will this relationship still be as strong?

Yes! Proof: We’re living together now. A situation that brings its share of complications, as they spend the day together at work and end up in the apartment in the evening. It will be a difficult situation.

Did you jump right in when you were asked to reprise your role in Plus belle la vie, or did you have a moment of hesitation?

I didn’t have a moment of hesitation. FYI, at the time I got the call, I was filming an episode of The Traveler. And when Vincent Meslet (CEO of Newen Studios, Editor’s Note) asked me to return, I did not hesitate.

When you have a chance to live with a character for 16 years and you’re this spoiled, you can’t turn down an offer like that. I think Boher was one of the most spoiled characters in this series.

It came from such a low country that it was easy to bring it back and build things around it. And honestly, if I had to choose a character from Plus belle la vie, it would be Boher, because I adore him and have fun with him.

When Plus belle la vie ended, I wasn’t upset that the series was ending, even if I was sad to leave the people I loved behind. This is part of our job. We’re on hiatus from the show, that’s what we have to accept.

So I moved on and worked on other projects. But when I contact you after a year to tell you that the Plus belle la vie adventure is starting again, it’s just incredible.

Stephen Hannon and Moondale

Aren’t you afraid that TF1 would change what Plus belle la vie was all about for 18 years?

I was afraid. I wondered what they were going to do with the series and if they were going to keep the Plus belle la vie DNA because that was important. This is what the public wants to find. They want to find characters, intergenerational sides and social issues.

I relaxed by reading the scripts. We find Boher’s character in full. I play as before and have no restrictions. There are different things, but the DNA of Plus belle la vie is still there.

As you explained, after completing Plus belle la vie, you participated in many projects. Will you still have time to act in other series or TV movies?

I have no disappointment. I am very happy to work on this series. Daily is definitely the format I like. I am hyperactive, I need to work. I have fun every day with Plus belle la vie. This is a real chance.

I’ve been having fun for 16 years and I’ve been looking for work for 16 years now. So I have no disappointment. Obviously, if I’m offered something I’m interested in, the production will work around my schedule. But my priority has always been Plus belle la vie, because what I was offered with this series, I was never offered anywhere else.

Watch the first episode of Plus belle la vie, even plus belle this Monday, January 8 at 1:40pm on TF1. Please note that from this date, episodes will be available for preview on the TF1+ streaming platform.
