In the new, Asha (Ariana DeBose, Love sublime love) lives in the magical world of Rosas, commanded by the beloved Magnificent King (Chris Pine, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Rebels), who is responsible for caring for and eventually fulfilling the desires in the hearts of each inhabitant.

However, when applying for a position as a royal assistant, the girl discovers that, in fact, the king has less than noble plans for the people and fears for the population of Rosas. Trying to save the enchanted kingdom, Asha makes a wish so powerful that it ends up pulling a star from the sky, which gives the girl hope that everything can work out after all.

Full of references to various studio productions – starting with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfsfrom 1937, and going through all the animations released in these 100 years of existence -, Wish: The Power of Wishes It was tailor-made to celebrate Disney’s one-century anniversary and everything it represented and still represents to countless admirers.

The film, in fact, is a representation of all the dreams that Disney, through its productions, managed to fulfill. We learn about love in Beauty and the Beast (1991); about friendship with Lilo & Stitch (2002); about respecting differences with Lucas (2021); about keeping your inner child alive with The Adventures of Peter Pan (1953); and about how life is only one and should be made the most of with Soul (2020).

With an uninspired Manichaean story and a development without major surprises, Wish: The Power of Wishes is far from being the best story that has ever come out of the Disney studios, but it has the power to awaken nostalgia, remember magical moments and, of course, entertain long-time fans of the dream factory, who will love watching and rewatching the novelty to try to fish out every little reference included in the novelty.
