The government is postponing visa requirements for tourists from the United States, Australia and Canada until April


The visa would be charged starting January 10, but has been postponed.




The federal government will postpone the Visa requirement for tourists from the United States, Australia and Canada. The provision was published this Thursday 4th in an extraordinary edition of the “Official Journal of the Union”.

This is the second time the visa requirement has been brought forward. The original date was October 1, 2023 and was later postponed to January 10, 2024. The abolition of the visa requirement was adopted in 2019 by then President Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

“The extension aims to complete the implementation process of the electronic visa system, which will make the granting of visas more convenient and faster. Based on the principle of reciprocity, visas are granted for a maximum period of 10 years and with multiple entries,” the government specified in a press release.
