Netflix’s World Top 10, released this Tuesday (21/6), did not bring good news for “Maldives”, a Brazilian production starring Bruna Marquezine and Manu Gavassi, which debuted in 5th place in the non-English-speaking series chart.

The most promoted Brazilian series ever on the platform generated 11.3 million hours watched worldwide, thanks largely to the Brazilian audience. The series opened at number 3 in the country, behind “Peaky Blinders 6” (1st) and “Stranger Things 4” (2nd).

The attraction created by Natalia Klein also reached 7th place in Portugal, but did not make it into the Top 10 of the main Spanish-speaking markets, such as Mexico, Spain and, amazingly, all of Brazil’s neighbors in South America.

As a curiosity, it also did not arouse interest in the real Maldives, among dozens of other countries.

It is worth noting that several productions that do not fall into the Top 10 can also be considered successful, depending on their local reach and whether the national market is large enough.

The most popular non-English language series of the week was the Spanish series “Intimidade”, with 30 million hours watched.
