The value of the social security contribution that individual microentrepreneurs (MEIs) must pay each month also increased in 2024, due to the adjustment of the minimum wage, which went from R$ 1,320 to R$ 1,412.
The amount to be paid increased from R$66 to R$70.60 for MEIs in general (5% of the minimum wage) and from R$158.40 to R$169.44 for MEI truck drivers (12% of the minimum wage).
According to the Micro and Small Business Support Service (Sebrae), it is through the timely payment of this contribution that the MEI guarantees social security benefits such as age-related pension, sickness benefit, disability pension, imprisonment compensation, pension in case death and maternity benefits. .
It is paid in the Simples Nacional Collection Document (DAS), which, In addition to social security contributions, it collects taxes due from MEIs. MEIs carrying out activities subject to the ICMS (commerce and industry) have an increase of R$ 1 per month in the DAS. For activities subject to ISSQN (service provider), the sum is R$5.
Entrepreneurs who carry out both types of activities must pay both taxes, paying R$6 more in the monthly contribution. In 2024, MEIs, in general, will pay between R$71.60 and R$76.60 every month, depending on their activity.
In the case of MEI Caminhoneiro, the values will be these, according to Sebrae:
- Municipal: R$ 174.44;
- Out of town (intercity, interstate, international): R$170.44;
- Dangerous products: R$ 175.44;
- Changes: R$ 175.44.
The deadline for DAS is the 20th of each month. It can be issued directly on the Simples Nacional Portal or via the MEI App, available for iOS and Android. There is the possibility of paying via bank receipt, PIX, automatic debit, among other ways.
