Botafogo did not play a good match on Friday evening (5/1), in the second round of the Copa São Paulo. After all, at the Estádio Lanchão, in the second round of Group 5, they played a listless match, creating little and finishing badly. But in the end they woke up and won 2 to 1. The goals came late in the second half. Marcos Paulista scored for Sao Paulo at 32; João Guilherme equalized for Botafogo, at 39. Vargas scored the turning point at 45.
In the other Group 5 match, Tiradentes-PI beat Francana 3-0. Fogão is therefore leader, with six points. Tiradentes and Francana have three points and Rio Claro zero. In the last round of Group 5, next Monday (8/1), Botafogo x Francana and Tiradentes x Rio Claro will be played.
Apathetic Botafogo
The first half was pretty boring. Rio Claro only offered danger in rare attacks from the left and only one cross from Ezequiel, which led to nothing, was notable. On Botafogo’s side, the team started badly, but adjusted after 15 minutes. However, even though he recovered many balls, his shots, even if on target, still seemed like late balls for goalkeeper Matheus.
Goal in the second half
In the second half the match continued at a slow pace, with the teams very poor at finishing. There was a ball kicked that almost went out of the stadium. In the 23rd minute Vargas puts the ball in the goal for Botafogo, but is offside. The attempt was cancelled. At 32, Rio Claro took the lead. Ezequiel played for Marcos Paulista. The player who entered two minutes earlier shot a corner from goalkeeper Heitor to make it 1-0.
But at 39, Fogão equalized with a great play from João Guilherme. He triangulates on the right, receives in the area and plays on goalkeeper Matheus, leaving everything the same. And João Guilherme, who came on in the second half, made the difference again. He receives it on the left and passes it to Gregory who catches the ball badly. But in the end he gave a pass to Vargas who scored Botafogo’s winning goal.
