This year’s Golden Globes will feature a number of new features. Among them is the fact that the traditional Cecil B. DeMille and Carol Burnett trophies, honorary awards given to artists in the film and television community, will not be awarded.
The change, however, will not be permanent. According to Golden Globes vice president Tim Gray, the honorary awards will be awarded again, perhaps as early as 2025. “This is not a permanent change, they will be awarded again in the future,” he wrote in a post on the official blog of the award.
There was no official justification for the decision not to award the awards in 2024. In the last edition, in 2023, the Cecil B. DeMille and Carol Burnett awards were presented to Eddie Murphy and Ryan Murphy, respectively. The information comes from Omelette.
