This is the way… of cinema! While fans of The Mandalorian have been waiting for Season 4 to be announced, it has finally been confirmed. With an unexpected twist to say the least, as Dean Jarrin’s (Pedro Pascal) next adventure will be a movie.
The first Star Wars movie since 2019
And not what was already announced at Star Wars Celebration in April 2023, which will be the conclusion to the Mandalorian series, Boba Fett and Ahsoka’s book (which was recently renewed for a 2nd season): called The Mandalorian & Grogu, the feature film adds to those we already knew existed .
Showrunner and series co-writer Jon Favreau is directing the film, which is set to begin shooting in 2024. This will make it the first Star Wars feature film since 2019 and the release of The Rise of Skywalker.
“Very interesting perspective”
“I loved telling stories set in a rich world that was created George Lucas“– says Jon Favreau in the press release announcing the project. “The prospect of bringing The Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to film is extremely exciting.” And the result should be visible in cinemas in 2025, even if no date has been set for now.
Along with The Mandalorian & Grogu, there are now four films in the works: this and Dave Filoni’s, announced in December 2026, which will conclude the Star Wars franchise. But also a feature film in which Daisy Ridley will reprise her role as Rey, scheduled for May 2026.
And James Mangold’s opus (Indiana Jones 5), which will take us back in time to the story of the dawn of the Jedi.
The Force will be back in theaters soon.
