During an interview with Variety, Stewart commented how the franchise based on the books of Stephenie Meyer has great connotations queer. Her character, Isabella Swanis centered on a love triangle with Edward (Robert Pattinson) It is Jacob (Taylor Lautner).
“I can only see it now. I don’t think it necessarily started out that way, but I also think the fact that I was there was seeping in. It’s such a gay film,” he said. She came out as a lesbian in 2021, when she was 27 years old.
“I mean, Jesus Christ; Taylor, Rob and me, and it’s so hidden and not good. I mean, a Mormon woman wrote this book,” the actress continued. “It’s all about oppression, about wanting what will destroy you. That’s a very gothic, gay slant that I love.”
