Mission: Impossible – Fallout, a movie in which you absolutely have to stop for 1 hour and 34 minutes to see Tom Cruise seriously injured, director Christopher McQuarrie wanted to offer something more dramatic than previous opus. “We had a lot of conversations about the tone of the movie. Ghost Protocol director Brad Bird changed the tone of the franchise, and Rogue Nation completely embraced that change.”says the director.
“At the beginning of this film I said Tom Cruise : “I don’t think we can do these three films in a row. We have to take a new direction.”McQuarrie continues. “And we did that. We’re not going for something darker, we’re going for something more emotionally dramatic.”
After London and Vienna in Mission: Impossible: Rogue Nation, it’s Paris’ turn to become an Ethan Hunt adventure. Filming also took place in London, where Tom Cruise broke his ankle twice while jumping between two buildings. Filming also had to stop seven weeks after the accident.
In each film in the saga, Tom Cruise performs an impressive stunt where he plays with death. In Ghost Protocol, he had to climb the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the tallest skyscraper in the world. and in A rogue nationDuring takeoff, he had to hang onto the door of an Airbus A400M Atlas military transport plane.
For Mission: Impossible – Fallout, Tom Cruise and Christopher McQuarrie raised the bar for excitement by developing a series of stunts. We’ll let you discover them, but know that you won’t soon forget Tom Cruise and Henry Cavill’s impressive battle against a fierce opponent. A fight that happens in an unusual place because it’s a fight… in the toilets!
Henry CavillIn fact, Mission: Impossible – Fallout plays a CIA assassin. And according to him, the stunts he had to perform here were much more difficult than in the films where he played the role of Superman. In the latter, the actor had to work mainly on muscles, and in the sixth opus of the adventures of Ethan Hunt, he was forced to engage in more complete and difficult training with several specialists in the field.
“The poor guy was involved in every scene that was filmed in the most difficult conditions, including freezing temperatures and without much clothing on his back.”Christopher McQuarrie recalls. “He’s especially found himself on an open-door helicopter traveling at 160km/h, 2000m on a glacier in the middle of a New Zealand winter, or even suspended on a 600m cliff in Norway.”
All these crazy adventures, if you accept them, are on the menu for your evening…
Tonight on W9 at 9.05pm.
