With a decisive participation in the unprecedented Libertadores title, the Colombian should receive a salary increase in 2024
Fluminense paid $600,000 (around R$3 million at the time) to sign John Arias in 2021. The Rio club currently holds 50% of the Colombian’s economic rights. However, the Italian leaders want to increase this percentage. The information comes from “ge”.
Fluminense plans
Arias is one of the flagships of Fluminense and played a decisive role in the Libertadores title. So the tricolor leaders fight to grab the rest of the Colombian’s percentage. Despite the club’s interest, there is also the will of the Patriotas, who hold the remaining 50% of the player.
Patriotas wants to obtain a part of the future sale of Arias and does not intend to give up the percentage due to the Colombian. The attacking midfielder, among other things, received an offer from Zenit in this transfer window, but decided to reject the prices offered by the Russian club.
Arias is in Fluminense’s plans for the next few years. The Italian managers intend to offer the Colombian a contract renewal and a salary increase in 2025. The attacking midfielder’s contract at the Rio club is currently valid until December 2026.
With 12 goals and 17 assists, John Arias played 61 games for Fluminense in 2023. The attacking midfielder entered the club’s history after the Libertadores title. The player is currently on holiday and will return on January 23rd.
