We all know him as Brian O’Connor, one of the central characters of the Fast and Furious franchise films, but the fact is that Paul Walker almost played another very relevant character in cinemas. In the information that became known in the documentary I am Paul walkerwhich tells the life of the actor who passed away in 2013, the public discovered that he had even auditioned to play Superman.
The person who made this revelation to the public was Walker’s agent, Matt Luber. He also pointed out that the actor not only auditioned, but was one of the finalists to get the role. In other words, it was very difficult for us not to see Paul Walker in the famous blue and red uniform of the famous DC hero.
Luber doesn’t clarify which Superman film he was auditioning for. The Man of Steel film, which premiered in 2013, kicked off a new franchise for the hero in theaters, so it’s entirely possible that this was the production that would see Paul Walker play the character. The role ended up going to actor Henry Cavill, who would return to play the Kryptonian hero in two more films.
In a conversation with the documentary team, released in 2018, the former agent also provided more details about the test and the contract:

Paul Walker ultimately didn’t get the role, but why? In the same documentary, the person who reveals the reason for his retirement is a personal friend of the actor, Oakley Lehman. First, he points out that Walker was “dedicated and thought to accept.” But everything changed when he had to wear the uniform.
“I have an ‘S’, I have a cape, boots, tights… that’s not me. I’m getting out of here. I have to go,” Lehman explained, referring to what Paul Walker would say when he saw himself as the hero.
