Rings of Power: An iconic character from the novels may appear in season two

Please note that this article is based on unofficial sources and contains potential spoilers surrounding The Rings of Power, the new season of The Lord of the Rings series. If you prefer to keep it a surprise and not know anything about its contents, I suggest you stop reading this article now!

In addition to introducing the main characters of the series, be they characters from the books like Galadriel or Elendil, or characters invented from scratch like Pivellus, the first season of Rings of Power also featured its final episode. For us, Halbrand is none other than the necromancer Sauron, the future owner of the One Ring.

Rumors have already raised the possibility that the character will appear in two different forms in the second season. In Halbrand’s human form, both in the first season (played by Charlie Vickers), but also in his original form (British actor Gavi Singh Chera gives him his features).

Origin of Middle Earth Revealed?

According to a leak reported by the specialized site TheOneRing.net, the rights to The Silmarillion were bought by Prime Video, and the first season only had the rights to The Lord of the Rings and its sequels. Thus, Season 2 will open with Ilúvatar’s creation of the world of Middle-earth and the birth of the all-powerful Valar.

Among these fifteen divine beings is Melkor, the Dark Lord, who later took the name Morgoth. This character – mentioned in the season one prologue – is Sauron’s master and one of the most powerful characters to ever walk Middle-earth.

The very detailed reports discuss a significant number of events that could happen in this season 2, including the appearance of several iconic characters from the novels. First of all, this new season should reveal for good that the man who fell from the sky (Daniel Weyman) is indeed Mithrandir, aka Gandalf.

Will this non-film character appear in season 2?

Season 2 also saw the appearance of the famous Tom Bondabile, an important character from the novels but who did not appear in the Peter Jackson films. His wife Goldenberry would also appear in the series, and their presence could offer further details about the origins of these ancient beings in Middle-earth.

And finally, a very important detail about power rings. While Season 1 ended with Celebrimbor creating the three Elven Rings (with the help of Halbrand, whose identity has yet to be revealed), rumors raise the possibility that Sauron’s One Ring will be forged at the end of Season 2.

An image for Season 2 of Rings of Power has yet to be released, despite filming wrapping up last July. But it has already been confirmed that the Lord of the Rings series will return this year exclusively on Prime Video.
