The end of Yellowstone is still up in the air. Tensions between series co-creator Taylor Sheridan and actor-star Kevin Costner are at the root of the show’s shutdown, though it is slated to resume airing next fall. One thing is for sure either way: with or without Kevin Costner, Season 5 of Yellowstone will be its last.
But fans can rest assured, a sequel has already been ordered! Titled 2024, this new production will bring together several characters from the original program, but also a brand new hero, who will play the role of Matthew McConaughey.
Another spin-off will also see the light of day. Titled 1944, this series will have World War II as its backdrop. The hero of this series could be his namesake John Dutton, the grandfather of the current owner of the Yellowstone Ranch (played by Kevin Costner).

A second season of 1923, a spin-off starring Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford, has also been ordered. However, there are no plans to return 1883, the spin-off series that explores the origins of the Dutton clan and their arrival in Montana, for an additional season.
During a lengthy interview, Yellowstone franchise creator Taylor Sheridan also confirmed The Hollywood Reporter Other prequel series are in the works, none of which were officially commissioned except for 1944.
Remember that the American screenwriter is also the creator of the series Tulsa King (Sylvester Stallone) and the mayor of Kingstown with Jeremy Renner, also available on Paramount+, although neither of them is closely or remotely related to the productions of the world of Yellowstone.
