In the late eighties, Patrick Swayze was at the height of his fame. The actor, fresh from his Dirty Dancing success, stars in Road House, in which he plays a nightclub bouncer. The film wasn’t a huge success at the box office, but has become a cult classic over the years, so much so that a remake is being released today, 35 years later, starring Jake Gyllenhaal.
Directed by Doug Liman (Jumper, Edge of Tomorrow), this new version stays fairly faithful to the original. Following the reveal of the poster and release date – announced for March 21st – the Prime Video platform is putting the first trailer online.

They use Road House to sell plumbing fixtures.
“We made Roadhouse a “success” – those are Amazon’s words, not minebegins in a press release shared by the director Deadline. The film did better in test screenings than my biggest hit, Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Even better than Memory in the Skin, which spawned four sequels. And I’m told the press reception is the best Amazon has had since they bought MGM.”
The director, who does not lose his temper, continues: “Amazon asked me to trust them and believe in their desire to support theaters, and they’re rolling. They use Road House to sell plumbing fixtures.“
“The reality is that there might not be a bad guy in this story, it might just be Amazon’s computer algorithm“, the filmmaker concludes ironically.
Road House with Jake Gyllenhaal is expected on March 21st on Prime Video.
