Did the feature film hit our theaters this Wednesday, January 24th convince the first audience? While it averages 2.8 out of 5 from the press and 2.5 out of 5 from the public, thanks to 130 people* who have rated it so far (including 33 critics), here’s a summary of what viewers think. roll the dice.

For his 8th feature film as a director, Ivan Attal (My Wife is an Actress, My Stupid Dog…) wrote the screenplay, along with Yael Langman, very loosely inspired. Ball trap By Eric Asus.

This film – whose title echoes Stéphane Mallarmé’s poem in the title A roll of the dice never cancels the chance – takes the form of a thriller.

This is the first time that Ivan Atal has directly encountered this genre, the codes of which he took with a clear respect for the genre, in particular borrowing from Hitchcock or Verhoeven.

A Coup de Dés features Guillaume Canet, Marie-José Croze, Ivan Attali, Maven, Alma Jodorowsky and Victor Belmondo. Among the film’s strengths are the suspense and the subjects covered.

They liked it

Puppet (3.5/5): ”An interesting film about what it has to say about cowardice, jealousy that can destroy friendships, and randomness that no amount of voluntary action can ever do in the end. Impeccable interpretation, with special mention to Ivan Atal.

Lucy Fayard (4.5/5):A charming and exciting thriller that keeps you in suspense throughout the film. 5 star casting! I’m not disappointed I went to see this movie, I highly recommend it!

Régine CC (4/5):This Chabrol film highlights the importance of fortuitous circumstances that obstruct the lines of criminal investigation. A true demonstration of the accidental aspect of justice by a+b and an appeal against the death penalty. A film that deserves better reviews in my opinion.

They liked it less or didn’t like it

octopus_fr2002 (3.5/5): “It is quite a successful and charming film. How chance turns a good man into a murderer. Greek tragedy is a merciless mechanism, and the story keeps us hooked. A slight drop in pace two-thirds of the way through the film. It’s a shame !

Paul GATT (3/5): “It is difficult to believe in this marital drama despite the excellent performance of the actors. Too bad, the plot seemed strong.”

Simon Bernard (1/5):The director gives us a vaguely similar unfinished cocktail to the thriller. Nothing feels right between the voice acting, the dramatic background music, the screenplay that casually justifies all its inconsistencies…

A Roll of the Dice is currently in theaters.
