The Pontiff addressed the topic during the Angelus
During the Angelus this Sunday (28), Pope Francis asked the faithful to “pay attention to the ‘chains’ that suffocate our freedom”.
“I think of addictions, which make people slaves, always dissatisfied, and consume energy, goods and affection; I think of dominant fashions, which encourage impossible perfectionism, consumerism and hedonism, which commodify people and ruin relationships”, he listed.
“There are temptations and conditioning that undermine self-esteem, serenity and the ability to choose and love life; there is fear, which makes one look at the future with pessimism, and impatience, which always places the blame on others. others”, listed the pontiff.
“And there is still the very ugly current, the idolatry of power, which generates conflicts and resorts to weapons that kill or uses economic injustice and the manipulation of thought. Many currents, many are in our lives”, he warned Francisco.
“This is how the devil works: he wants to possess in order to chain the soul and always takes away freedom. Jesus came to free us from all these chains. Jesus frees us from the power of evil and never speaks to the devil! With the devil, we do not speak we never talk and we never negotiate”, said the Pope.
