Jair Bolsonaro’s lawyer, Fabio Wajngarten, said this on the social network on Friday 29th, and his targets include the Rio de Janeiro city councilor and his son, Carlos Bolsonaro (Republicanos-RJ).

Carlos Bolsonaro was the target of Operation Close Surveillance, which investigates an alleged plot in Abin that illegally monitored public authorities and other people. According to the investigation, former director of Abin and current federal deputy Alexandre Ramagem (PL-RJ) used the organization’s structure to carry out illegal espionage activities for the benefit of Bolsonaro’s family. The MP was in charge of Abin during Jair Bolsonaro’s government and was targeted by the PF last week.
Who is Alexandre Ramagem, target of the PF operation
In total, nine search and seizure warrants were authorized: five in Rio de Janeiro (RJ), one in Brasilia, one in Formosa (GO) and one in Salvador. Searches were also carried out in the house in Angra dos Reis (RJ), where Carlos Bolsonaro spent the night after doing a live broadcast with his father. Carlos’ residence, in Barra da Tijuca, and the municipality of Rio de Janeiro are among the other addresses searched.
The PF’s suspicion is that Carlos had received illegally obtained “materials” from Abin, according to journalist Camila Bomfim’s blog, from GloboNews. Consultants were also subjected to police action.
This Monday’s searches and seizures target allies of Ramagem’s “political core”. “In this new phase, the Federal Police seeks to advance into the political core, identifying the main recipients and beneficiaries of the information illegally produced within Abin, through clandestine actions. In these actions, investigative techniques typical of the judicial police were used, without however, no judicial or public prosecutor’s control”, informed the PF.
The suspects can be held responsible for the following crimes:
- invasion of another’s computing device;
- criminal organization; AND
- interception of telephone, computer or telematic communications without judicial authorization or for purposes not permitted by law.
Abin is the body responsible for providing strategic information and analysis to the Presidency of the Republic to contribute to the decision-making process.
