Director of ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ confessed that he avoids movie theaters
Martin Scorsese admitted that he doesn’t watch his own films at the cinema. In an interview with Variety (via NME), the director of Flower Moon Assassins explained that he avoids visiting theaters because he is “short and there is always a big person in front” of him.
I do not do this. People talk and move a lot. I’m short and there’s always a big person in front of me. It’s the same thing with Broadway — I can’t go to the theater. If there’s a person in front of me, I can’t see the stage or hear the show.
Scorsesehowever, has become a big fan of IMAX: “You go in, you can sit in the back and you’re still kind of looking up. Ordinary screens, I’ve found that the audiences are getting a little louder than they used to be.”
“But maybe it will always be like the 1950s, when we used to scream at the screen. But it’s very important for me to support films while they’re in the theater. I just wait a while.”
