In a good phase, Leão scores 2-0 at Arena Pernambuco and wins his third consecutive victory in the competition, reaching 12 points
The sport continues to be in a great phase at this start of the season. On Monday evening (29th), Leão beat Afogados 2-0 at Arena Pernambuco. The goals came from Pedro Vilhena and Zé Roberto, both in the first half. As a result, they lead the state championship with 12 points in five games, one more than rival Náutico. The opponent, however, remained with four, in eighth place.
Shaken, Rubro-Negro returns to the field next Thursday, away from home, at 9pm, to face Flamengo Arcoverde. On the same date, Afogados seeks redemption by hosting Retrô, at 7pm.
Absolute domination of Sport
The home team undeniably settled the game in the first half. Even if Afogados also had some scares – they even had a goal disallowed – Leão is superior and, at the end of the first 45 minutes, they are already ahead 2 – 0. The first goal came in the 25th minute: Pedro Vilhena , in the area, splashed after a beautiful pass from Zé Roberto. Twenty minutes later, from a penalty, Zé Roberto doubled the Rossoneri’s lead.
The home team’s dominance continued in the second half. Accuracy, however, is not. Sport, therefore, also threatened to increase the score, but failed to finish and the final score remained the one built in the first half. In the best opportunity created, in the 38th minute, Arthur Caike takes a free kick for a corner and forces Danilo to deflect it for a corner.
