Marvel: Daredevil vs. Echo, 6 minutes behind the scenes of the impressive battle of the series!

This was the most anticipated sequel by Marvel fans and the result lived up to all expectations. The battle between Maya Lopez and Daredevil took place in the first episode of the new series Echo, which is now available on Disney+.

This Hawkeye spin-off, centered on a former assassin now freed from his mentor, the Kingpin, is the first Marvel series to be produced in the Marvel Spotlight era.

This new label was created to differentiate independent works from other Marvel Universe productions, as well as offer more freedom to its films and series in terms of the violence shown on screen.

Dark and brutally daring

Daredevil’s appearance marks a big return for the superhero, following his appearance in the She-Hulk series last year. But his role, which focused more on humor that contrasted with the darkness of the character on the Netflix series, was not to the taste of Marvel fans.

His return as a dark and brutal version of Echo, therefore, can only be good for the next series Daredevil: Born Again (currently filming, scheduled to air in 2025)!

A good sign for the reborn

Marvel Studios has released a behind-the-scenes video showing the fight between the Man Without Fear and Maya Lopez. This six-minute shoot specifically goes back to the prep work of actors Charlie Cox and Alaqua Cox, who performed some of the stunts themselves for the series.

Part 2 director Mark Shizaki also discusses the choice to shoot part of the fight in sequence. This decision required significant choreographic work, namely making judicious cuts that would allow Alaqua Cox to be replaced by her stunt double.

Echo Series Video Making:

Although most of the scene was shot without special effects, digital effects were still necessary to straighten the cable, but also to ensure the safety of the teams. This was especially true of the chair sent by Maya Lopez to the enemy’s head, which was added in post-production.

All five episodes of the Marvel Echo series are now available exclusively on Disney+.
