Diablo Cody says ‘Hell Girl’ could get a sequel or reboot

The screenwriter does not rule out the possibility of revisiting the film starring Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried

The screenwriter of Hell Girl (2009), Diablo Cody, does not rule out a reboot or a sequel to the film. “I think something is going to happen. And I’m anxious about it,” she said in an interview with People. “But it’s one of those things that you constantly have to put off. There’s a lot of content out there right now and a lot of people trying to remake existing IP”

Despite becoming popular, the film did not have a good box office return: “Even with the new appreciation of Hell Girlsometimes it’s difficult in a business where people just look at the numbers.”

“It’s challenging, because they say, ‘But the movie didn’t do well.’ And it’s like, ‘Yeah, but everything is different now. So trust me,'” the screenwriter explained. “The film Buffy the Vampire Slayer It didn’t do well either, and look what the series did.”

More than a decade after the release of the feature film, Diablo confessed that he would change only one thing: “The only thing I would do today — because I could — is that I would love for there to be a more openly queer relationship between Jennifer and Needy. At the time, the most we could do with the film studio was the kiss, and now I think you could really allow these characters to be who they were. But that’s the only change I can think of.”
