What is a heat dome?
A heat dome, also known as a heat dome or bubble, forms when an area of high pressure persists over a region, trapping very hot air underneath, similar to the lid of a frying pan. This is a meteorological phenomenon always associated with the atypical increase in temperatures in a region and, most likely, is linked to the occurrence of a heat wave.
