The 34th edition of the 2024 Junior Film Festival concludes this Tuesday, February 6. For almost two weeks, young and old alike were able to enjoy multiple screenings and share their passion for the big screen with their families. For the occasion, audiences were offered more than 100 films, including some animated classics, but also new releases that will surely be the talk of the town in the coming months.
At the end of these days rich in travel, discovery and emotions, several short and feature films were awarded, starting with the drama Bauryna Salu, winner of the Ciné Junior 2024 Grand Prix and the College Student Prize, which follows the story of a young man. According to Kazakh tradition, a boy was entrusted to his grandparents from birth. Directed by Askhat Kuchinchirekov, this film opens the curtain on a custom little known to many.
In a completely different genre, Riddle of Fire, which was also presented last June at the Cannes Film Festival during Cinematographers’ Monday, also caused a sensation in the public. This feature film, which won an ADAV award and two college awards, follows the adventures of a trio of kids who search for the parental code for their new console, but also the perfect recipe for blueberry pie, a sect of poachers who never stop arguing, and a little girl with elf gifts has!
Finally, Dutch director Zara Dwinger’s dramatic comedy The Day I Met My Mother stood out by winning the Youth Jury Prize, awarded by a group of students from Ile-de-France. The story of eleven-year-old Lou, who dreams of her mother in her nursery’s bed. He says he is a famous Hollywood stuntman. But when she finally comes to him, Lou discovers a wild road in Poland…
