Civil police officer Paulo Enrique da Silva, 45 years old, died after being shot during an attempted robbery last Tuesday, 6th, in the Pompeia neighborhood, west of the capital of São Paulo.
According to the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP), the case occurred around 6pm, in Rua Barão do Bananal. The police officer was on his motorcycle when he was approached by a criminal, who announced the robbery. Paulo was shot and rescued, but he did not survive and died at São Camilo hospital.
The shooter fled with the police officer’s cell phone and gun. Forensics were called and the case is being investigated as a robbery by the 3rd Specialized Center for the Repression of Crimes and Various Events (Siege). “Efforts are underway to identify and arrest the offender,” the SSP informed.
In a statement, the São Camilo hospital lamented the death of the police officer and said he was rescued in serious condition at the Pompeia unit. “The patient was promptly rescued and immediately transported to the surgical center, but, despite all the emergency resuscitation procedures carried out, unfortunately he did not survive. The Hospital regrets his death and informs that it welcomed and accompanied the family, as well as the police authorities,” he said.
Through social media, the Civil Police of São Paulo also published a note of condolence. “The Civil Police deeply regrets and stands in solidarity with friends and family in this time of grief.”
