In 2018, John Krasinski – then famous for his role as Jimmy in the TV series The Office (USA) – directed the horror thriller Quietly. A critical and public success, the film, directed by Krasinski, his partner Emily Blunt and the young Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupp, tells the story of a family trying to survive under the threat of mysterious creatures that attack at the slightest noise.
With a budget of 17 million, the film collected 340 million at the international box office. Three years later, the second opus was released in our cinemas. Also directed by Cillian Murphy, Quietly 2 collected $297 million.
So it’s no surprise that a third installment has been announced, and here’s its trailer! We discover the first alien attack and how Earth reacted.
You got it, calmly: Day 1 is not a continuation of the saga, but a prequel with new characters. The feature film returns to the genesis of the events narrated in the first film.
Written by Jeff Nichols (Take Shelter, Mud, The Bikeriders) and Michael Sarnoski (The Pig), who also directed the feature film, Quietly: Day 1 is directed by Lupita Nyong’o, Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things), Alex Wolff and Djimon. Hounsou is already casting Without sound 2. In the previous opus, the actor played the leader of the colony. So the film should show us how the latter was created, as we see Hunsou helping Lupita Nyong’o at the end of the video.
This is the first film in the saga not directed by John Krasinski, although the latter is producing the film alongside Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Bradley Fuller. The feature film is scheduled to be released in theaters on June 26, 2024.
